Let's start building a shelter for our cats and kittens

With your support of our project "a roof for abandoned cats" on the website ULULE http://www.ulule.com/toit-pour-chats/ and your donations on our website, we are happy to announce you that we have started the construction of the temporary shelter for cats, we will be able to welcome around 30 felines

Below a few photos because we love photos and it was important to show to all the people who helped us that the VAC is a serious non profit organization

Day 1 : 25th of July 2013

We start by cleaning the old and dusty roof made with palm leaves

Destruction ancienne batisse

A lot of work for 3 people under a sunny and hot day (34 degrees celcius) at 9.00 am

Builders will start on friday because they respect the lunar calendar (friday brings luck and money) very interesting...

Le chantier avance assez vite

The small wall separating both room will be broken

At 5.00 pm, most of the walls are covered, they will dry on sunday, day off for everyone !

Have a nice week-end!

Day 4 : 29th of july 2013

Today builders worked very well and very quickly. They finished to set up the walls, the 2 windows and the metallic door

Mise en place porte et fenetres

The day was perfect to work, not sunny but not rainy. Only 33 degrees. Builders had time to add a thin layer of cement. This wall will be painted in the future when we will have a bit more money :)

Fin construction murs

The shelter will comprise structural wood components and a roof of corrugated sheets

More photos tomorrow... we are still thinking of how to make the cat cage to allow felines to go outside. We found a solution but it costs around 300 USdollars for a 8 meters long x 3 meters large cage. Our problem was the tree that you can see on the right side of the photo. We don't want to cut it because it brings a lot of shadow...

Day 5 : 30th of July 2013

A shot a 6.37am, before to open the door and the two windows

Cement had the time to dry during the night

This afternoon we will receive the roof and the wooden structure

Day 6 : 31st of July 2013

Day 7: 1st of August 2013

Only two pics today, builders finished the roof, they level the ground with cement

The shelter looks like a little cat house, doesn't it?

We still have a few days of work, we are a bit short in our budget it's still missing a few euros/dollars to finish (150 euro/200USD) to build the cat cage to allow the felines to go outside with no risk. We would like to thank Rachel for her donation.

Day 8 : 5th of August 2013

Today builders worked on a small wall to separate the cat cage, they add a metal door to enter inside and they have whitewashed the front wall before painting

The cat will get a large cage to sleep under the sun, they will be able to do their business anywhere they like

Zoom on the first window painted with a light color and on the left side the metal door to enter into the cage

Day 9 : 6th of august 2013

Today it is painting day

The wire grid is set

The main building is painted with a light green color

Metal door will be in yellow color

On wednesday we will finish the details, clean all around and we will start to level the ground. Our budget is gone, we need a few hundreds dollars to buy a wooden frame and mesh roof to close the cage before th arrival of the cats or they won't be allow to go outside. If you want to help us with a small donation you can click at the bottom-left of the page. Thanks so much...
