Fido : His master had died in an air raid over Borgo San Lorenzo in 1943, during World War II. Fido Waited in vain, for the following fourteen years, for Soriani's return, going daily at the bus stop in Luco Del Mugello where the man used to get off before coming home.

Hachiko : His owner had suffered from cerebral hemorrhage at work and died, never returning to the train station where Hachiko was waiting. The faithful dog continued to wait for nine years till the day he died.

Heïdi : Made her way down a five hundred feet vertical drop to get to the body of her owner (after he fell to his death while hiking) and stood guard over his body for days.

Ruswarp : After his owner had died during a hike in the mountains, Ruswarp stood guard by his body for eleven weeks. He was found cold and starving, by another hiker. The faithful dog only survived long enough to attend his master's funeral.
